Unconventional Bridesmaid Dress Ideas
Are we still stuck in the ugly-bridesmaid-dress department? No, of course not! Weddings and everything about them have adopted a completely new spin where attention to detail is crucial and the imagination can run wild. While we’ve always had a particular appreciation for the classic weddings and all the petroleum -makes-me-nauseous—color-bridesmaid-drama, we feel like it was the time we moved on and stepped into a more expressive and personalized attire.
What we also love about this new-wave wedding I-can-do-whatever-I-want-on-my-special-day extravaganza is that it actually is giving the lovebirds a chance to personalize their big day after their own tastes, and step away from the traditional expectations. Whoever said wedding gowns must be laced up, overwhelming and white?! A variety of themes, sentiments and options are now accepted and we’re falling in love with every second of it.
Some things aren’t changing, though – bridesmaids are still that one piece of the wedding puzzle that the bride relies on for all the wedding pieces to sit in place. But what’s changed, though, is what they are wearing! They’ve finally conquered the ugly-dress-punishment and are now embracing gorgeous styles worthy of themselves and the big day.Let’s take a look at the best
Let’s take a look at the best unconventional bridesmaid trends and you’ll see around:
All chic and personality
If you are a bride who is all about elegance, sophistication, and chic, you’ll probably want your bridesmaids dressed as the ultimate modern Cinderellas. Are we the only ones thinking Sex and the City (movie 1) bridesmaid dresses in this context? Definitely not. As you may recall, all the three girls’ dresses were unique, supporting their personalities and individual styles. Even though they’ve avoided the well-known and expected sameness of bridesmaid dresses, all three being different in cuts and colors, they were still incredibly sophisticated and elegant, and so exceptionally glamorous. Definitely not a typical choice of bridesmaid dresses, but undeniably something you should consider exploring for your best gals.
The queens of every theme
Are you a bride who is going for a boho wedding? A vintage spin-off? A Game of Thrones theme (or any other for that matter)? Well, good for you! Express your individuality through every single detail you’ve incorporated into your wedding and make your “I do”s even more special!
Depending on the theme you’ve chosen, make sure your bridesmaids are included (style-wise) and don’t let their dresses stand out in a bad way. If your wedding is boho and your dress is champagne lace, opt for the same design for your chicas. Naturally, your dress will be the star of the show while theirs will just contribute to the chic and cohesion of the theme. The same applies to other themes. With these kinds of weddings, you want to support the sameness but in a reduced and softened kind of way.
Long and short vibes
Up until recently, all we’ve been seeing were knee-length dresses that were “modest enough” for the occasion and “appropriate enough” for the elderly attending it. However, a knee-length skirt has never excited anyone (except if it was a super tight, body-con, Kardashian-like, pencil skirt) so it was about time we’ve dropped it.
Be bold and daring and let your bridesmaids choose a super chic long, maxi dress for red carpet effect or a mini one for the party after. Fright not! They will not look like simple party dresses, not if you supervise well. The key with these kinds of dresses is to opt for sameness at least in one aspect. For instance, if all of your gals want their dresses maxi, that’s amazing – then, they can all pick colors they like. If they want different lengths, advise the color to be the same. That way you guys will all belong to your wedding troop, while at the same time keep things on the individual side as well.

July 12, 2016What i liked best about these dresses are that they are simple, chic and elegant and not overdone . They are in warm hues and its pleasing to see them. In Indian Weddings somehow I feel the dress is a bit overdone with sparkling saree borders and stuff. It sometimes become unmanageable and too gaudy for the occassion.

July 8, 2016I think this is great. Why should a wedding be the same as the last 100 years. Times are changing and so should the special day. Live it up and remember.

July 7, 2016I love when brides have a variety of dresses at their weddings. My bridesmaids will be wearing their own dresses in the same length and same color family but not the exact same color.
