Bohemian Beach Wedding Fashion Ideas
There’s rarely anything as beautiful as a beach wedding; sure, you can always argue the hot sand, wild wind, and crazy heat as contra-arguments but, let’s face it – there’s nothing like saying your I do’s (or witnessing someone you love to say them) to the sound of waves in the back, the wonderful smell of salt and the warm breeze on your skin.
Bohemian weddings are generally incredibly beautiful, regardless of where they are taking place, but when they are taking place on a beach, they get an even more gorgeous feel about them.
If you are invited to a bohemian beach wedding but you are lacking inspiration on what to wear, we’re giving you some helpful suggestion to think about and ultimately opt for!
Light colors
Beach is the perfect setting for a boho wedding as it has that incredible effortlessness and natural beauty to rely on. With the sea that’s oh-so-blue and the sand that’s reminding us of crunched pieces of gold and diamonds scattered around, your outfit should blend in and be one with the setting. Light and earthy colors are a perfect choice for your outfit, especially if they are embellished with a lot of lace and interesting ornaments.
Colors to think about: pastels, whites, beige, eggshell, turquoise, deep green/blue, ocher and coral. If you are attending a night wedding in a venue on the beach, and the tone is a bit more serious/elegant, you may opt for deep gray and black, too.
No high heels
With the sand around, it’s really pointless to wear anything but flats. Pumps will have their moment some other time, but for this wedding – embrace gladiator sandals, strappy flats, elegant loafers, ballerina shoes and open toe sandals. Practically, anything that’s flat flies as long as it’s elegant and it fits the occasion.
Flower it up, feather it down
Boho loves natural elements and accents like flowers, feathers, animal-inspired and tropical prints, vintage patterns, etc. so take this opportunity to wear your flower crown and enjoy it, too! If you are not participating in the wedding you have all the liberty in the world to go crazy with the accessorize – hats with large brims, a flower behind your ear, multiple necklaces for the statement, ankle bracelets and toe rings, septum piercings, headpieces like hairbands, turbans, flower crowns… anything that inspires that boho queen in you! If, however, you are in the wedding, then talk to the bride and see what accessorize she is going to be comfortable with. With so many gorgeous boho accents it gets so easy to get carried away, so make sure you don’t overdo it. After all, you have to think about the wedding videography and that photo booth your friend is planning on customizing – you have to look presentable. You don’t want to stand out too much, it’s her wedding after all.
Bubbly and interesting cuts
For a summer boho wedding, embrace the given effortlessness of it by wearing cuts that not only flatter your figure but agree with the season. Wearing body-con dresses or anything that’s too tight is simply not agreeing with the boho wedding nor the 40 degrees out. Instead of torturing your body, go for flowy maxi or midi dresses, light and easy materials that curl up in the wind and let the skin breathe. If you want to avoid looking too Barbie or plain, you can always upgrade your outfit with edgy and interesting accessorize.
Romantic, light and classy, boho weddings call for outfits that imitate the beauty and ease of summer, so make sure you honor it!

July 13, 2016I love this idea. I was very tempted to do it at my own wedding but I lived in Ireland at the time… bit cold and wet for a beach wedding.

July 13, 2016I would love a bohemian wedding by the beach, with wavy hair, bare feet and white dresses. You have pointed out the most important aspects of this kind of wedding. All it’s left is good weather 🙂
