The Best Winter Travel Hair and Makeup Tips
Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway to snowy mountains, or discovering some new destinations after holidays, winter can be a magical setting for unforgettable adventures. But, even if you are on a vacation, you shouldn’t skip your daily beauty routine. This is very important, not only because of beautification, but primarily because it protects your skin. When it’s cold outside, your body becomes more vulnerable to external influences, so you should take care of it more than usual. Of course, you can’t pack an entire bathroom cabinet with you, so you should adapt your habits to the new, reduced circumstances and get the best of it.
Keep a fresh look
To get a glowing and healthy skin during your travel, it would be good to moisturize it as much as you can. In order to prevent dehydration, you should apply a moisturizing cream in the morning and in the evening, after a proper cleaning. Optimize the space in your travel bag by reducing the number of needed cosmetic products with one multi-purpose product, such as all-in-one cleanser and makeup remover. Don’t forget that sun rays can damage your skin during winter as well, so use a moisturizer with SPF and skip applying (and packing) two different products.
A good vacation doesn’t always include beauty sleep, so if you want to hide the marks from the night before, you can reduce under-eye puffiness in the morning by tapping that area with cold water. However, the nature can also be very helpful, considering that, once you’re outside, cold, fresh air will have the same effect.
Don’t exaggerate with makeup
Fresh air can also give you a natural blush, so keep that in mind while you’re packing your vanity case. For the winter vacation of any kind, it would be best to stick to a natural look, so keep your makeup layers on the low. The right amount of makeup products is the one that can fit in your carry-on bag. Skip the foundation and go for a skin toner and concealer only. Instead of a usual blusher, you can pack one of your favorite red shaded lipsticks and gently tap it on your cheeks. Avoid wearing a lipstick during the day, because it can dry out your lips, so opt for a lip balm or a lip gloss instead. Just in case, bring a neutral lipstick that can go well with any combination. Finish your look by adding waterproof mascara, because it’s more resistant.
If you’re still not sure how to create a natural look appropriate for winter conditions, check some of the various makeup and beauty tips on the internet that will show you how to get the best look with minimal number of products, quick and easy.
Don’t forget hands and nails
After your face, hands are the second most exposed part of your body, so you should give them a lot of attention. Gloves are a necessity, but, considering that hands don’t have much oil glands and that they dry out with every wash even more – especially during winter – you should moisturize them regularly with a quality cream specialized for hands and nails. You can find these hand creams in smaller packages, practical for the trip. Don’t forget to bring an extra nail polish, preferably in some light, neutral shade that will make your nails look healthy, while also complimenting your outfit.
Stick to a natural hairstyle
Just like your skin, your hair also needs extra protection, so use a conditioner and hair products with a moisturizing effect that will strengthen and hydrate it. You can also protect your hair by wearing a hat or a cap, which can also act as a nice accessory for your outfit. But, since you’re on the vacation – your hair doesn’t have to be polished at all. If you have long hair, opt for some loose buns, or curl up your hair by sleeping with a high bun.
Bring a dry shampoo just in case, and a brush to revive your hair, and give it some volume.
If you want to look great during your winter vacation, you should also feel great, so keep your worries at the minimum, try to relax as much as you can and just have a good time – this will be the best beauty treatment of all.

December 1, 2016Great tips! My hands and face get so dry in the Winter! And my hair looks like a science experiment with all the static lol! I find argan oil is great for my hair and a really heavy duty moisturizer for hands/ face, and a lot of chapstick!

December 1, 2016I definitely need to invest in some dry shampoo! There are some days I can’t fathom getting into the shower because it’s so darn cold and I never wake up in time to be able to blow dry my hair before I leave for work!

December 1, 2016I agree, just sticking to natural makeup is usually best when travelling as you said the cold air can make you look like you have blush anyway.

December 1, 2016I love the tips here. I always remember to apply something on my lips to prevent them from drying during cold season. I do prefer light make-up and natural hairstyle so I am happy that I am doing what you have on your list.
