Pelican Grand Beach Resort, FL: A Sunshine Getaway | Review
If you’re looking for a sunshine getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded Miami and Key West and comparatively less expensive than Palm West, Ft. Lauderdale in South Florida is an ideal destination. With its more than 165 miles of navigable intra-coastal waterways and canals, Ft. Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America as well as the yachting capital of the world. Located in the heart of the Ft. Lauderdale’s pristine beach adorning 500 feet of private beachfront is the Pelican Grand Beach Resort which is a perfect sunshine getaway with a coastal-chic waterfront retreat.
I visited Ft. Lauderdale last month and stayed at Pelican Grand Beach Resort to take a mini vacation from my hectic schedule. Here are some of the highlights of my amazing stay!
The Entrance
As soon as I entered the resort’s threshold, I was mesmerized to see the panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean from the lobby which gave the perfect Floridian vibes. I was greeted with big smiles at the door and was assisted to the reception. I was welcomed by a receptionist and had a smooth check-in experience. Within 5 mins, I was shown to my room without any further delay.
The Room
My first impression — very spacious! My room was Premium Oceanfront King Suite located on the 10th floor with a direct oceanfront view. The room was divided into a sleeping area and sitting area with a private furnished balcony facing the breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The room had one king bed with a comfy pillow-top mattress. The room gave the feel of the Southern belle cottage equipped with all the modern amenities. The light and airy spaces featured soothing colors, unique artwork giving the feel of the home away from the home!
The vintage style bathroom was also spacious with ample towels and toiletries. The combination of black and white flooring tiles with creative lighting gave a very refreshing look to the entire decor of the bathroom.
View From The Room
As my room had an oceanfront view, the balcony was my favorite spot to see the splendid sunrise and start my day during the stay!
Food & Drinks
The Pelican Grand Beach Resort has an upscale fine dining restaurant and lounge known as OCEAN2000 which has a stunning dining room and veranda with the breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The restaurant offers American cuisine blending local product and character into a refined menu – with a little Latin spice. Don’t forget to try OCEAN2000’s famous Sunday brunch — an ultimate treat to delight yourself!
The resort also has O2K lounge which is a perfect place to enjoy your favorite libation, live music, entertainment and light fare overlooking the scenic, tropical pool and the Atlantic Ocean.
The Emporium — an old-fashioned ice cream parlor is a must stop during your stay at the Pelican Grand. This cute little ice-cream parlor is reminiscent of the 1950’s and will delight your taste buds with delicious treats. Additionally, The Emporium also offers an array of coffee treats, gourmet bakery items and gifts!
The Pool
The resort’s huge tropical pool blending perfectly with the splendid view of the Atlantic Ocean is a real treat to the eyes. The resort also has floating down Fort Lauderdale’s only lazy river — one of my personal favorites to just engulfed by the unrivaled location of this laidback luxury resort set amongst the soothing sights and sounds of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Spa
No trip to the Pelican Grand Beach Resort would be complete without heading to the PURE Spa — a luxury boutique Swedish spa nestled on the 11th floor of the resort! With a mantra as wholesome as “You Are Beautiful,” PURE Spa provides an assortment of signature treatments including ‘PURE You’ and offers roof-top yoga along with a delectable variety of massage therapy, facials and skin care essentials, body treatments, nail care, waxing and make-up. I opted for a White Christmas Snowflake Body Glow massage and my entire experience was close to nirvana.
Other Amenities
The resort also has 1400 sq.ft of The Atlantic Ballroom and 2,055 sq. ft. of The Ocean View Ball Room for organizing a wedding or any special events. The Ocean View spaces will effortlessly accommodate unto 100 people for meetings, weddings and other social events. Other intimate spaces include the all new 12th floor “Sky Suite” penthouse and the 11th floor “Ocean View” suite, as well as the Executive Boardroom, Hospitality Suite and Everglades Room. The resort also offers Oceanfront Fitness Center, Paddle Boarding, Toes in the Sand Dining and other Seasonal Events.
Verdict
Pelican Grand Beach Resort is among those luxurious beachfront resorts who knows how to provide an ultimate luxury, hospitality, and service to their customers. The resort is in close proximity to the other attractions of the Ft. Lauderdale as well as only 10 minutes drive from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). If you’re looking for a sunshine getaway embodying the essence of Florida with its spectacular oceanfront views away from hustle and bustle of the crowd, Pelican Grand Beach Resort won’t disappoint you!
