How To Get The Best Out of Your Workout While Traveling?
If you’re addicted to fitness and can’t imagine a day without working out in a gym, you’ll find it really hard to keep up with such lifestyle when you’re on the road. Not having access to your usual equipment may be a bit frustrating, but it really doesn’t have to be like that at all. Stay with us and find out how to get the best out of your workouts while traveling.
Scope out fitness facilities in advance
If you’re staying in a hotel, it’s highly likely that there’s a fitness facility you can count on. So, get online immediately and see what’s available. Besides that, you should also figure out whether that fitness facility is free of charge or not. On the other hand, if there’s no gym in your hotel, you should ask if they have an agreement with a gym that offers weekly or even daily passes – that would be more than amazing!
Plot your fitness plan
When you’re traveling, prioritizing your workouts is crucial. That’s exactly why you should come up with a good plan before setting off for a trip, in order to make sure that every gap in your planned itinerary is filled with a workout. If you’re traveling for business, it’s likely that you won’t have much time for working out, but you know what? Even a long walk is fine! If, on the other hand, you’re visiting your family and/or friends, make sure they know what you’re up to, and let them know they can join you if they want.
Don’t forget the 2-day rule
The 2-day rule says that you should never go two days in a row without a workout, so try to stick to it as much as possible. This rule will help you stay on track while you’re on the go, which is exactly what you need in the middle of your hectic trip. If you give your best to live by this rule, you’ll always manage to squeeze in a workout, no matter how busy you may be. After all, you can be sure that it’s much harder to get back into your fitness routine once you’ve made a bit longer pause, so bear that in mind, too!
Stay motivated with a fitness tracker
Once you hit the road, it doesn’t mean that you should forget about your fitness tracker. Always keep your FitBit next to you, since that’s the only way to stay motivated and informed about your progress. The truth is that you can always count on such a gadget – it’ll help you realize that you haven’t taken your 10,000 steps yet! Wearing a fitness tracker on your vacation is absolutely vital, and it’s actually fun to know how many steps you’ve taken while exploring a new destination!
Pack the essentials
Last but not least, your workout clothes and equipment should always find their place in your bag, no matter where you’re traveling. Packing some heavy weights is not a good idea, primarily because of the baggage allowance, so you should carry some lightweight dumbbells instead. A floor mat, a resistance band, and a skipping rope are also a good idea. Needless to say, quality ladies gym wear is also obligatory – you’ll need a comfortable tank and matching tights, as well as a nice sports bra that provides enough support during a workout. Once you have all of these, you’re ready to go!
Maintaining your workout routine while you’re traveling doesn’t have to be as difficult as you probably thought. All you have to do is to get informed about the available facilities, as well as to keep your motivation high thanks to a fitness tracker. Also, make sure not to miss your workouts two days in a row – plotting a perfect fitness plan will help you manage that like a pro. The only thing left is appropriate gym equipment, and you’re halfway there!

March 22, 2017I’m not a fitness fanatic by any means, but I do regularly workout when vacationing, so I always look for the fitness room first like you suggested. I like the 2-day rule. I’ve never heard it before, but I think it will help me stay on track with my workouts.

March 22, 2017Good suggestions. I know some people need or want to work out while traveling and may find it hard to do. If nothing else you just need to get a little creative or focus on cardio instead of weights for the duration of the travel.

March 22, 2017I rarely work out when I travel. But I do walk a lot and generally hit 10,000 steps a day, so I don’t feel too guilty.
