The Broad Museum, LA | 5 Reasons Why You Should Visit?
The Broad Museum is one of the coolest hotspots in downtown Los Angeles buzzing with crowd. It is founded by the billionaire philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. From its splendid contemporary art collection and installations to its idiosyncratic architecture, The Broad Museum screams at the top of its voice to the world that City of Angels is rich with cultural institutions.
On my last visit to Los Angeles, I had a wonderful time at the Broad Museum and here are my 5 reasons why it should be top on your LA bucket list.
1) If you’re fond of modern/contemporary art
The Broad museum has more than 250 masterworks of contemporary art pieces from the renowned artists. The works are primarily painting, photography, sculpture and installation. The main exhibition galleries on the third floor of this museum showcase the work of artists like Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein to name a few. The installation in the first-floor galleries are quite spectacular including the work of Yayoi Kusama and Robert Longo.
2) If you love splendid architecture
The 120,000-square-foot and three-story museum building is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler houses. The Broad museum design resembles “the veil and the vault, the “veil” of the external honeycomb and the “vault” of the building’s central storage and administrative areas is one of the marvelous creations of the modern engineering. Not only this, the building is designed in such a way that it has filtered natural light from skylights and windows.
3) If you love visiting the free attractions on your trips
The best part about the Broad Museum is that admission is free but you’ll still need a ticket to get in. Therefore book your slot in an advance so that you don’t have any issue later. You should also download the Broad app for your free audio tour and it’s quite amazing. You can enjoy the tour at your own pace.
4) If you want to make your Instagram feed colorful
The Broad Museum has plenty of colorful artworks and exhibits to make your Instagram feed dope. Take as many pictures as you want and share on your social media. My only tip is wearing bold colors if you want to play twinning with the exhibits and capture some amazing shots.
5) If you want to see something magical
The most magical thing in the Broad Museum is “Infinity Mirrored Room — The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away” by Yayoi Kusama. No visit to the Broad Museum would be complete without visiting this installation. The good part is it will dominate your Instagram feed and the bad part is you’ll only spend 45 seconds in this tiny, twinkly chamber. Also, do note that you can’t make a reservation for Infinity Mirrored Room in an advance, therefore as soon as you enter the museum, go to the tablet stationed outside of the piece (the installation is hidden in a narrow hallway in the middle of the entrance area) and punch in your name and phone number to secure your spot in line. On an average, the expected waiting time for this installation is more than an hour but the wait is totally worth it!

Till then,
Happy wandering,
