NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 | Glimpse Of Runway Shows That I attended

New York Fashion Week is one of the hottest events in New York City buzzing with high energy twice every year. From runway shows to the pre and post parties, from budding to renowned designers, from supermodels to celebrities, from A-listers to media, NYFW is a mecca to anyone who is a part of the fashion industry.

I was fortunate enough to get the invite of some wonderful shows and star-studded pre and post parties of NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 last month and here’s the glimpse of some of the shows that I attended during the fashion week

My Day 1 at NYFW SS19: Friday, September 7th, 2018

Fashion Palette

My first show at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 was Fashion Palette at Industria Studios showcasing the work of 11 Australian designers such as Bronx & Banco, Elliatt, Saski Collection, Santina-Nicole, Jagger & Stone, Elle Zeitoune, Harvey the Label, NNCY, The Blonde Republic and Avery Verse to name a few.

I was fortunate to get a front row seat in this show. The show was jam-packed with tons of celebrities sitting in the front row including Delilah Belle, Anastasia Karanikolaou, Jordyn Woods and many more.

From date night looks to running errands, from active wears to lounge and evening wear, the Fashion Palette’s collection was a real treat to eyes. Below are three of my favorite pieces from the Fashion Palette’s collection:

AFFAIR

AFFAIR was the show by designer Rufat Ismayilov also held at Industria Studios. The theme of the show was “Power of Fire from The Land of Fire” that featured elegant Haute Couture creations made in “The Land of Fire”, Azerbaijan.

The collection had some stunning pieces with plunging necklines, detailed embellishments, statement bejeweled shoulder pads and sexy cut-outs. Affair’s collection also had a variety of luxurious fabrics such as silk, crepe chiffon as well as semi-precious gemstones in natural tones. Three of my favorite pieces from the collection are as follows:

Artistix

Artistix – The show by Andy Hilfiger and artist Greg Polisseni showcased their designs inspired by Polisseni’s art in their Spring collection called ‘Sierra’. It was inspired by the tranquility provided by nature’s many landscapes.

Some of the front row celebrities who attended the Artistix runway shows were, of course, the Hilfiger family including Tommy Hilfiger, his sister Ginny Hilfiger, NY Knicks player Tim HardawayLa La Anthony and rappers Grand Puba, and AZ to name a few.

Artistix Spring collection showcased the active fashion with bright colors, bold block patterns, camouflage prints and colorful artwork. Some of the signature pieces on the runway were bodysuits and track pants for women as well as, anoraks and cargo shorts for men. Three of my favorite pieces from the collection are as follows:

Vivienne Hu

Vivienne Hu – a former investment banker turned into a fashion designer showcased her colorful Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Spring Studios. Hu’s collection was inspired by 1970’s designs for women who are not afraid of flaunting bold signature statement and believes that more is better – with more fabrics, more textures and more embellishments. Some of her signature pieces included cropped jackets, pantsuits, embellishing mini and maxi skirts and stunning dresses. Three of my favorite pieces from her collection are as follows:

My Day 2 at NYFW SS19: Saturday, September 8th, 2018

Oxford Fashion Studio SS19 Collection Group Show I, II and III

Oxford Fashion Studio presented 3 shows at Pier 59 Studios featuring the collection of 15 independent fashion designers across the globe. Tiffany Saunders – Oxford’s runway director said “We began Oxford Fashion Studio with a love of supporting independent design talent. Going all out for individuals we believe in; for the good of independence, originality, and integrity. Nine years on we are responsible for continuing to strengthen over 639 independent, quality designers, ranging from over 70 countries, to give them a platform in the four fashion capitals during fashion week. The talents we scout have often been undiscovered in the fashion capitals and were incredibly proud to be the ones to bring them to the front line of the industry.”

I got an opportunity to attend all the three shows and some of my favorite designers were as follows:

Meticulously Eccentric

The Meticulously Eccentric collection was inspired by bright pop-up and fun colors inspired by 60’s and 70’s designs. Every piece was eye-catching with vibrant and eccentric style.

Megan Cannings

Megan Cannings’s collection showcased the beauty and essence of Spring with fairytale gowns, bridal couture and gala dresses coming to life with subtle colors and rich fabrics. There were plenty of showstoppers in her collection.

Caroline Perino

Caroline Perino’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection was inspired by the vibrant color pallets of stars and galaxies around the universe showcasing the concept of time-travel and space.

Daykeyla

Daykela’s collection was inspired by the gothic culture with a twist of colors. Some of the pieces inspirations were taken from vampy aesthetics of Harley Quinn and Vampires

Global Fashion Collective I & II

Global Fashion Collective presented two shows at Pier 59 Studios and featured the collection of 7 designers.

Global Fashion Collective I at 3:00 PM showcased the collection of Profanity by Lillz Killz, NOT DEAD YET, Kim Tiziana Rottmüller and Nozomi Kuwahara with vibrant colors, exaggerated shapes and unique fabrics.

NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 | Glimpse Of Runway Shows That I attendedThe second presentation of Global Fashion Collective II was at 5:00 PM and showcased the work of Kirsten Ley, XY, and Carlton Jones featuring feminine silhouettes between ready-to-wear fashion and haute couture.

Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka was one of my favorite shows during the NYFW Spring/Summer 2019. Mark Badgley and James Mischka created a milestone during this fashion week at Spring Studios and celebrated their 30th anniversary. The runway show was no lesser than a party with secret mystical garden set-up and pastel-covered tables flanked the runway, each ready with buckets of champagne for the guests.

Badgley Mischka’s collection showcased ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme with feminine pantsuits, stunning ballgowns for galas and premiere events. A new category for the label was featuring mommy-and-me collection which was loved and embraced by the audience. The duo also released their first floral based fragrance based on their love of magnolias.

My Day 3 at NYFW SS19: Sunday, September 9th, 2018

Nonie

Nonie – The Canadian ready-to-wear brand by designer Nina Kharey, also known for being a favorite of trench silhouette worn by Meghan Markle, showcased her collection at Industria Studios. The collection was inspired by the Orient that featured silk charmeuse and luxurious sheen, giving a beautiful flow to the pieces. Nonie showed a beautiful color palette of monochromatic black and white with pops of red and yellow with neat architectural lines and details. Three of my favorite pieces from Nonie’s collection are as follows:

F/FFFFFF

F/FFFFFF  was founded by Zac Zeng in 2017 and debuted its Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Industria. The collection was inspired by Eastern philosophy with its mysterious charm and aura blending nature and art to achieve a state of “heaven and humanity”. The collection was a blend of heaven and earth colors as well as fluorescent colors of modern technology embodying the rise of eastern power and rich culture.

Ruby Fang

Ruby Fang – A Chinese designer known for glamorous and impeccable-detailed designs showcased her Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Industria. The name of her collection was “Morpheus” featuring delicate embroidery, splendid silhouette and trains floated on the runway. Some of her gowns were breathtaking and she also added headpieces to complete some of the looks.

My Day 4 at NYFW SS19: Monday, September 10th, 2018

Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera – a renowned fashion designer known for dressing various first ladies such as Jacqueline Onassis, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama stepped down last season and handed the reins to Wes Gordon who showed his first collection at New York Fashion Week this season. The collection was feminine, delightful and full of life with many floral prints, ruched sleeves and flowing trains with a kaleidoscope of color. Some of the celebrities who attended the show were Lily Aldridge and Hailey Baldwin to name a few.

My top three pieces from Carolina Herrera collection are as follows:

Thanks a ton to all the designers for the invites of their splendid shows. I had a time of my life attending NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 and my entire experience was quite overwhelming. I was on cloud nine witnessing all the glitzy-glamor and behind the runway action through my own eyes.

If you ever get an opportunity to attend fashion week in your life, do visit because it is an ultimate lifetime experience!

Love,
Ana
