Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club | A Ft. Lauderdale Luxury Getaway
Lago Mar in Spanish means lakes & ocean. Sandwiched between Lake Mayan on the west side and the Atlantic Ocean on the east side, Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club is an epitome of luxury blending with serenity in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Located in one of the quaint and elite neighborhoods, the resort has 500 feet of private Atlantic Ocean beach away from the mayhem of the strip.
About The Property
Established in 1959, Lago Mar Beach Resort was purchased by Mr. Sidney Banks. His family still owns and run the resort. All of the old building has been torn down and new ones built over the years.
I took a quick weekend getaway to Ft. Lauderdale and stayed at luxurious Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club. Based on my stay, let me give you a virtual tour of my entire experience!
My First Impression Of Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club
Quaint neighborhood, sophisticated old Florida vibe!
Lago Mar Beach Resort’s Entrance
Driving inside sprawling Lago Mar Beach Resort gives you the vibe of entering inside the luxe residential community at its first glance. It is mostly because Lago Mar is located in an upscale residential neighborhood. No wonder you’ll see many boats parked in front of the resort.
The resort’s Mediterranean style splendid exterior architecture will grab your attention as soon as you’ll park your car. There’s a beautiful fountain in front of the lobby’s entrance that sets a positive aura around. The City of Ft. Lauderdale has presented Lago Mar with “Best Architectural Design.”
The Lobby
Stepping inside the lobby of Lago Mar gives you a sensory overload of opulence if you’re fond of splendid decors. From magnificent chandeliers on the roof to the beautiful floor’s tiles paintings depicting an aquatic life to a lovely fireplace, do take a minute to glance everything around you!
The details and artworks in the lobby are quite impressive. Even the intrinsic designs on the ceiling of the corridor are just phenomenal. While walking inside the corridor, I felt like walking inside any luxury palaces of Jaipur in India!
The Passageway To The Rooms
As soon as you’ll come outside the elevator and enter the passageway to your room, you’ll get perfect vibes of Tommy Bahama inspired decor with palm leaves carpet and floral paintings trying to set you in a vacation mode.
Lago Mar Beach Resort’s Suite
The resort has 164 suites and 40 hotel rooms. I stayed in one bedroom suite with a side ocean view. The suite had a living area, bedroom, kitchenette, working desk, dining table for four, dressing room with a closet, balcony and bathroom. It was just perfect for a larger family or an extended stay.
The neutral-toned walls of the suite blended perfectly with the furniture. The walls had a collection of beautiful paintings. The rooms had all the modern amenities such as two flat-screen TVs — one in the living room & the other inside the bedroom, a mini refrigerator, microwave, iPod docking stations and complimentary high-speed WiFi.
There was a king-size bed with a soft mattress, comforters and pillow. The bed was comfy as well as sheets & pillows were clean. I’ve to admit that I had a sound sleep during my stay. There were two charging points near one side of the bed which was a plus point.
I loved how spacious granite bathroom was! There was a separate walk-in shower, vanity area, garden tub and a slider door for a toilet in case if two people want to use the bathroom at the same time. A weighing machine was also kept inside the bathroom. Bathrobes were also provided inside the closet.
The panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean from the over-sized side balcony of the suite was just breathtaking. It was one of my favorite places to spend the time when outside temperature was in the 90s.
One of the things that I noticed throughout my suite was a pineapple themed pieces of furniture and lamps. The details were impressive. You’ll get the vibe of being at the vacation home where good times are waiting ahead!

ii) Palm Garden Breakfast & Lunch – For your lavish buffet breakfast or relaxed lunch, do try the food at Palm Garden during your stay.
iii) Seagrape Terrace – If you’re fond of outdoor dining with a view of pool and garden landscape, Seagrape Terrace would be an ideal choice.
Seagrape Terrace was one of my favorite places to spend the afternoon by sipping cocktails & soaking in the view around!

The Pool
Lago Mar Beach Resort has two pools. A 9000 square feet of a lagoon-style pool for the kids and families and another oceanside lap pool for the adults in a tropical setting surrounded by lounge chairs and swaying palm trees. There’s also live entertainment every Friday & Saturday evenings near lagoon pool.
The Beach
It is very rare to find a secluded beach in front of any resorts in Florida. However, Lago Mar resort has more than 500 feet of private beach for its guests to play and have fun in the sun. The resort offers private cabanas, umbrellas & beach chairs at a nominal fee.
Due to the resort’s close proximity to the Ft. Lauderdale harbor, you might get a chance to see a few cruise & cargo ships sailing in the ocean during your stay.
One of my favorite things during the stay at Lago Mar was watching the sunrise. It was a wonderful experience to start my day with such a surreal view!
The Hammock Life
The resort also has a few hammocks where you can lie down and enjoy the beach life. One of my favorite moments was lying on the hammock during the sunset under twinkling light bulbs, swaying palm trees and the gentle breeze. It was no less than a paradise itself!
Other Amenities
From the resort’s four tennis & basketball courts to putting course, from beach volleyball to mini golf course, from children’s playground to shuffleboard and oversized outdoor chessboard, Lago Mar offers plenty of activities to entertain its guests of all ages. There is also complimentary parking. What I liked most about Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club was that there’s no resort fee. Unlike the other beach resorts in Florida that charge daily resort fee in addition to the room charges. The resort also has a luxury spa, fitness center, 12,000 square feet of conference space including two outdoor gardens & four meeting rooms. There’s also a gift shop on the property that has a wonderful collection of bathing suits, souvenirs & Summer essentials. You can also book a one-hour photo session with the hotel photographer to capture some wonderful memories during your stay.
The Location
The close proximity of Lago Mar Beac Resort & Club to the airport and harbor makes it one of the popular destinations among cruisers and travelers. You’ll also be a few miles away from all the Ft. Lauderdale major downtown attractions. However, do keep in mind that you need a car to commute everywhere. The hotel doesn’t provide an airport shuttle.
Final Verdict
From the world-class amenities to its infrastructure to its excellent service, Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club is one of the gems in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Whether you’re looking for a family vacation or secluded romantic getaway or retreat, the resort has the capacity to meet the demands of all kinds of guests. What I loved most was the serenity of this resort and have to admit that there were many moments when no one was between me and nature. The entire experience was just priceless. I got plenty of time to reflect on myself and rejuvenate.
In a nutshell, I had a wonderful time at Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a luxury getaway in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Lago Mar meets all the parameters of being a AAA Four Diamond resort. It has been also listed among ‘World’s Best Places to Stay’ by Condé Nast Gold List Edition.
Many thanks to the entire team of Lago Mar Beach Resort & Spa for their amazing hospitality during my stay!

July 12, 2019Oh well, this looks a lot a like a place, where I would spend a day or two just to relax. Especially, if before that, I went some sort of a challenging trip. I liked the floor paintings quite much. But also… it looks a bit empty there.

July 11, 2019Looks like a stunning place to stay. I can’t believe the family who bought it in the 50’s still own and run in today, that’s pretty impressive. How was the location of the property? Obviously, the beach looks amazing but where there other attractions you could walk to easily?

July 11, 2019The resort looks absolutely lovely. I love the exterior, it looks so extravagant! I actually googled the place (I’ll be visiting Florida in December) and I have to say, I was expecting a higher price. I might just stay there. Thanks for the recommendation

July 10, 2019The lobby and the exterior of the hotel looks really beautiful! The interior though, especially the bedroom looks like it could a refresh! I don’t prefer carpeted floors as well cause of my sinus allergy. That beach is gorgeous, and I hope I get to visit Lago Mar someday! =)
