The Oterra | A Luxury Business Hotel In Bengaluru, India
Nestled in 2.5 acres of green landscape, The Oterra is the only 5-star business hotel in the Electronic City neighborhood of Bengaluru, India. The word ‘Oterra’ is derived from the Latin word, which means ‘of the earth’. Therefore, you’ll get a lot of earthly vibes throughout the endearing decor of the property. Despite being located in the heart of India’s one of the largest information technology hubs, the hotel gives a peaceful vibe, making you feel like home as soon as you enter.
My husband and I stayed at The Oterra Hotel recently and let me give you a virtual tour and review of our entire experience about this splendid property!
About the property
Established in 2009, The Oterra was formerly known as Crowne Plaza Bengaluru and associated with the Intercontinental Hotels Group. The hotel management in 2018 decided to establish its own brand. The Oterra was founded as an independent identity and has been owned by the Velankani group.
With 264 rooms, 4 restaurants and plenty of space for events, The Oterra hotel offers plenty of perks and world-class service to all its guests.
The lobby & check-in
Stepping into the lobby of The Oterra gives a luxe vibe at first glance with its modern and contemporary decor. A huge O-shaped art installation is placed at the center of the lobby. The magnificent chandelier on the roof is one of the main attractions of the lobby.
From outside of the hotel to its main entrance to the lobby, multiple staff members greeted us with a warm smile before heading to the reception. At the reception, we were greeted by a young gentleman and had a smooth check-in in less than 2 minutes.
The Room
The Oterra offers Superior, Deluxe, Club and Suite to choose from depending on the guest’s needs. We stayed in one of the Superior rooms on the third floor of the hotel. The room had contemporary decor with floor-to-ceiling windows and filled with all the modern amenities. The neutral-toned walls with warm colors spread the positive aura inside the room. There was also a fully stocked mini-bar with snacks and drinks. Our bed was comfy with pullout mattresses. The room also had high-speed internet and plenty of power sockets for recharging gadgets.
I was impressed by the welcome amenities placed on the table. There was a personal greeting message from the guest relations manager along with a small piece of a chocolate cake with ‘Oterra’ carved over the top. A fruit tray was also included among the welcome amenities that was really a nice gesture from the hotel to promote healthy living.
The bathroom was spacious with all the modern amenities. It had a tub on one side and a separate shower area on the other side with a vanity area in the center. The toiletries were from Biotique skincare products and kept in sufficient quantity.
The view from our room was the hotel’s Podium block and a sneak peek of the swimming pool with a city view.
Food & Drinks
The Food & drinks scene at the Oterra is impressive. With the three restaurants and one resto-bar, the hotel offers a huge selection for its guests.
i) 24@43 – All Day Dining
24@43 is an all-day dining restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves Indian and Western cuisines along with a variety of cocktails. For all the breakfast lovers, The Oterra Bengaluru offers a complimentary breakfast to all its guests. From Indian to Continental breakfast and from American to English breakfast, there’s a lot of diversity in the food that it becomes a herculean task for guests to try everything!
24@43 restaurant also serves one authentic Indian dish during breakfast every morning to promote regional diversity in India. I got a chance to try Puttu Podi — a Kerala dish made up of rice and it was absolutely delicious!
The Oterra Bengaluru is also famous for its popular ‘The Big Fat Sunday Bruch’ or ‘The Big Fat Fun-Day Brunch’. I’ve to tell you that it is not just about the mouth-watering food but all about the experience. I will write a separate post to show you a glimpse of the Sunday Brunch but let the below picture speaks for itself!
Above is the Awadh Thali for a single person. So, develop your appetite before you’re heading for The Oterra’s Sunday Brunch!
For all the Instagram lovers, 24@43 has some colorful backdrops and installation for your perfect Insta-worthy shots. Don’t forget to take a picture with ‘Chennai Tea Stall’ during your visit!
For all the food bloggers & food Instagrammers, you’ll find your paradise at Oterra’s Sunday Bruch as there’re a lot of pictures-perfect food, colorful drinks and mouth-watering desserts that will make your Instagram feed totally dope.
ii) Alloro – Italian Restaurant
Alloro is home to the Oterra Hotel and well renowned as the classic Italian restaurant in Bengaluru. It serves authentic delicacies from the medieval towns of Italy in the modern trattoria ambiance. We were greeted by Oterra’s Director of Culinary — Chef Suvaranjan Banerjee and he gave us plenty of insights on Indian cooking versus the world and about current food industry challenges.
We started our fine dining with a few drinks such as Jamaican Café, Virgin Loop and Aqua Frizz. Jamaican Café was a mixture of dark rum, Kahula, an espresso with whipped cream over the top. It’s just perfect for all the strong coffee lovers.
The Virgin Loop and Aqua Fizz were mocktails and very refreshing. The Virgin Loop had Balsamic, lime and basil top with ginger ale and it tasted delicious. The Aqua Fizz had a cucumber, lime, rosemary muddled with sugar and top up with tonic water. It was perfect to beat the heat.
Now let’s talk about the food scene at Alloro. From Insalata (salad) to Zuppa (Soup) to Pasta, Alloro has a wide selection to choose from. We ordered Burrata for salad and Minestrone ala Genovese for soup. For the main course, we ordered Tortellini that comprised spinach, pecorino and saffron. The chef also offered us to sample Gnochhi all pomodoro (potato dumplings) and Pici alla arrabbiata (hand-rolled pasta) and everything was incredibly delicious!
Needless to say, after having such scrumptious Italian food, we had no space left for desserts!
iii) East – Pan-Asian Restaurant
East is a rooftop restaurant at the Podium Block in The Oterra that serves exotic dishes of Asia. As soon as we stepped inside East, we were greeted by our lovely waitress and got a chance to meet Chef De — the leading lady behind all the East’s culinary action. She personally designed our customized vegetarian menu as per our taste.
We started with Vietnamese Pho — a Vietnamese soup with broth, noodles and herbs and Dim Sums. For the main course, we had Ema Dachi (a Bhutanese dish) and Shogo Phing Tse (a Tibetan dish) along with Jasmine Rice. We loved our main course.
As a dessert lover, this was my first time trying Khanom Tom (a Thai coconut balls) and Tub Tim Grope (a Thai coconut dessert drink). Both were absolutely divine and would highly recommend if you’re ever going to try Thai desserts!
iv) The Terminus – Resto-bar
The Terminus is a resto-bar near the Oterra’s lobby. It is a nice place to take a sip and hang out with friends on weekdays or weekends. Terminus is one of the popular places among the crowd of the neighboring IT companies in the Electronic City to spend the evening after work.
Aloka Spa
The Oterra is also home to Aloka Spa that offers Indian as well as International massages such as Sweden, France, Siam, Bali, Native American hot stone to name a few. I was greeted by Dr. Arjun — a naturopathy doctor as well as the manager of Spa. He shared some wonderful insights on Ayurveda therapy. It is an ancient Indian healing therapy that uses long strokes, with healing herbs and oils to stimulate body circulation. Ayurveda therapy also helps in enhancing joint mobility, hydrate skin, relieve muscle soreness, speed-up detoxification process and re-balance the energy flow throughout the body.
Based on our conversation, Dr. Arjun recommended an authentic style of France massage that involved a homeopathic healing tradition. My masseuse did an incredible job and my 60-minutes spa experience was absolutely divine!
The Pool
The infinity roof-top swimming pool with a magnificent view is one of the perks of staying at the Oterra, Bengaluru. Whether you want to work from the poolside or end your hectic day with a few laps, the infinity pool is a perfect place to unwind and relax.
Other Amenities
The hotel has a well-equipped fitness center and a business center. There’re also several kinds of meeting rooms available depending upon the number of people. The Oterra has a massive space for hosting events, wedding or conferences. It has been hosting Bangalore Fashion Week and Miss South India for the last few years. Not only this, but the Oterra Bengaluru has also hosted many Bollywood celebrities, industrialists and CEO’s of the renowned companies in the past.
The hotel provides free valet parking and car rentals. There’s a gift shop in the lobby from where you can buy souvenirs. A barbershop and a tour desk are also present on the property.
The Verdict
Indian hospitality is arguably one of the best, and no doubt, The Oterra Hotel lives much more to the expectations. From incredible hospitality to world-class service, from unparalleled luxury to flavorful restaurants, I’d highly recommend The Oterra Hotel to anyone looking for a luxury getaway for a business trip or leisure in Bengaluru. November 1, 2019What a comprehensive review on the oterra hotel. I haven’t stay in this hotel yet but it looks really luxurious and sophisticated. Honestly I didn’t have much great luck with hotels in India but for some reasons it seems great.

October 31, 2019The hotel sounds really lovely and luxurious and somewhere my parents would love to stay. It’s great that the food is also of the same standard as that isn’t always the case in some hotels.
