Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 | My Entire Experience

Lakmé Fashion Week is India’s leading 5-day fashion extravaganza created with a vision to redefine the future of fashion and integrate India into the global fashion world. Organized by Lakmé and IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., the event occurs every twice a year in Mumbai. Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 was held between February 12th to 16th of this month and celebrated a 20-year anniversary of curated fashion experience. Growing up in India and fascinated by B-town and glitzy glamor of Indian fashion, attending LFW was on the top of my wishlist for the past few years. I was really excited when I got an invitation to attend the event last week. It was like a dream come true!

I didn’t attend the event scheduled on all the 5-days due to my other project commitments. However, I’m delighted to share my Day 4 experience with Y’all. Sit, relax and scroll down to take a glimpse of the work of some incredibly talented Indian designers!

Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 shows that I’ve attended

1) Punit Balana

The first show that I attended at LFW S/R20 was of a renowned designer Punit Balana who is known for dressing Bollywood celebrities like Raveena Tandon, Vidya Balan and Kriti Sanon. His collection “The Royal Bagh” depicted a vision of ultra glamour inspired by the Sisodia Rani Palace Garden of Jaipur and the Rajwaras of Rajasthan. I really loved Punit’s festive line with pink and steel grey pieces of cholis, kalidar kurtas shararas, with tassels or latkans, dhoti pants with flared kurtas and crinkled kurta with pants made fashion statements.

The showstopper of Punit Balana’s show was Tara Sutaria who delighted the audience with her pale pink silk luxuriously shimmering lehenga with tantalising latkans, a gleaming choli and delicate dupatta. Her outfit was a real treat to eyes!

2) SVA by Sonam & Paras Modi

The SVA label by Sonam and Paras Modi showcased their “Galeecha” collection. The abstract textures with geometric prints and fluid florals merged the contemporary resort wear looks. Kaftans, maxis and skater dresses were some of the popular pieces from the collection. Even for the men collection, Jodhpuri suit with embroidery, a kurta, Bundi, trousers and stole quartet, waistcoats, and an assortment of Bundies and kurtas gave the male dresser ample choices in the coming seasons.

The last show that I attended at LFW S/R20 was of the designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi. They presented ‘ArtFluence’ collection that focused on sustainable fashion. Their collection provided a perfect blend of functionality, enhancement and fashion that set amidst summer-inspired silhouettes. Pankaj and Nidhi’s collection brought to life painterly floral bouquets on diaphanous organza’s and lustrous twills, whilst fifties wallpaper patterns adorn youthful shapes and separates.

How was my entire experience at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020?

I absolutely had a blast attending Day 4 of LFW S/R20. I wish I had more time to attend all the shows, but a girl had her commitments. Attending Lakmé Fashion Week was an overwhelming experience. The entire experience is very different from New York Fashion Week as all the shows were held at the same premises. You’ll also get a chance to see a few Bollywood celebrities and renowned sports personalities walking the ramp. However, in NYFW, you’ll mostly see professional models walking the ramp. Overall, if you ever get a chance to attend LFW, do visit and see how Indian fashion has evolved and Indian designers are setting milestones.
