The 10 Best Travel Shows To Watch On Netflix

In the middle of Coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak global crises, traveling should be one of the last things that should come to anyone’s mind. Whether you’re self-isolating, quarantine or social distancing and following the protocol of staying at home, who says you can’t satisfy your wanderlust virtually. Thank God, we live in the age of Netflix where there’s a great list of travel shows to inspire you to see the world at the comfort of your couch. I’ve listed 10 of my favorite travel shows to watch on Netflix during the current downtime & hope these shows help you to overcome the COVID 19 Blues!

1) Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father

This is one of my favorite travelogue series on Netflix. Comedian Jack Whitehall and his dad traveled through Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and the USA in the last three series. It is fun to watch the duo and embark on their lifetime experiences.

2) Pedal The World

A 90-minute documentary movie of German-born Felix Starck will leave you spellbound with his adventure of riding18,000 kilometers on his bike, covering  22 countries in just 365 days. The documentary is quite exhilarating to watch!

3) Conan Without Borders

This series is a collection of travel segments of late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien’s travel segments. The show is fun to watch with his signature humor while digging topics such as the humanitarian crises in Haiti or War in Israel. His “Made in Mexico’ episode is one of my favorites where he heads to Mexico to repair US-Mexico relations.

4) National Parks Adventure

If you’re fond of breathtaking landscapes and splendid outdoors, this 40 minutes film by  Greg MacGillivray celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the national parks featuring world-class mountaineer Conrad Anker, adventure photographer Max Lowe and artist Rachel Pohl. The trio hike, climb and explore the majestic National Parks of the US such as Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Yosemite, and Arches.

5) Tales By Light

There’s a powerful story behind every image. A National Geographic and Canon collaboration that showcases a number of professional photographers traveling the world and captures extraordinary images that speak for itself.

6) Restaurants On The Edge

Restaurateur Nick Liberato, chef Dennis Prescott, and designer Karin Bohn travel the world and find restaurants with amazing views that are on the edge of shutting down. The trio teams up with the local owners and the restaurant’s chefs and turns the place around.

7) Street Food

The creators of “Chef’s Table” take to the streets in this half-hour series. The series highlights street food vendors in nine different cities across East Asia. Each episode is around 30 minutes, making it binge-watch at any time.

8) Instant Hotel

An Australian reality television show that features a series of homeowners who have transformed their homes into hotels and are judged by each other for a grand prize of $100,000. The series also showcases some of the splendid locations from Australia.

9) The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes

This show is just intoxicating. The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes takes us inside some of the jaw-dropping architectural wonders around the world. From the elite homes in Greece, New Zealand and Los Angeles to the homes of a fisherman in Japan, you’ll get a chance to witness larger-than-life luxury at its best.

10) Stay Here

Designer Genevieve Gorder and real estate expert Peter Lorimer join forces in Stay Here to help homeowners turn their spaces into short-term vacation rentals. The series gives an in-depth insight on behind-the-scenes action of how much works goes into the sharing-economy to make it actually work for us staying in gorgeous homestays.

Have you watched any of the above Netflix travel shows from my list? If not, which of these would you love to watch? If I’ve missed any show, please share some recommendations in the comments below?

Till then, stay in & stay safe!
XOXO, Ana
