Florida’s Silver Springs: Up, Close & Personal with Nature
Have you ever felt to be free from all the worldly possessions and spend sometime in Nature’s Lap…??
Florida’s Silver Springs State park, Ocala is one such place to spend quality time with Nature. There is lush greenery everywhere surrounded by plenty of flora and fauna which can soothe any soul. The feeling is priceless to see the crystal clear deep spring water containing enormous aquatic life and the soft gentle breeze around the Springs that caresses your face and cools your body.
Nature has given this for free, but it seems that not everyone is aware.
Silver Springs is the world’s largest artesian spring and Florida’s oldest tourist attraction. It was earlier used as a location for a Hollywood film in 1916, but became popular with the ‘Tarzan series’ in the 1930s and into the 1950s. As per the information by Silver Springs Park, some of the famous movies shot here includes Tom Cruise starer ‘Legend’, Jane Russel and Richard Egan starer ‘Underwater’, Sean Connery starer ‘Never Say Never Again’ and Rock Hudson & Claudia Cardinale starer ‘Blindfold’.
Silver Springs world-renowned “Glass Bottom Boats” is a must ride and it gives you an opportunity to witness the aquatic life of Spring without getting wet. I mean, if you are not fond of Scuba diving or Canoe riding, then this is the best way to experience the life under water.
Several statues visible near the main spring were placed there in the 1960s while filming the TV series I Spy, starring Bill Cosby and Robert Culp. We were told that other shows filmed here include the late Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter and many other TV shows of 1950s.
I also got a chance to meet these turtles resting on the trail and enjoying sun-bath at the bank of the Silver River.
Moving ahead, I came across this Alligator who was also taking sun bath and looked quite disinterested.
After completing Glass Bottom Boat Tour ride, my next task was to stroll inside the park and capture some beautiful shots. The surrounding around me was looking like a perfect picture painted by our creator.
Silver Springs also gives you an alternative to rent a canoe and begin your adventures. I wanted to go for a canoe ride but unfortunately I don’t know how to ride it. Probably next time, I will go for it.
You can experience the naive Florida at Silver Springs. It has something to offer for all ages. Everything is so peaceful, tranquil and calm that you can hear your own footsteps while walking down the trail. If you are looking for spending few beautiful moments of your life with yourself, Silver Springs will not let you down.
Do spend sometime with Nature and see the magic yourself. You will not only be rejuvenated but would be able to explore the real you…!
‘Happy Traveling’!
